The annual fund raising lunch in aid of the Friends of the Cancer Centre was held recently and, as usual, was really well supported and a big success. Many thanks to the local team for organising and to the many local, and not so local, folk who made the journey to come to the hall to support this important and worthy charity. £1200 was raised.
Shoeboxes were handed over to John Brown, a representative from Blytheswood, in respect of the 2015 Shoe Box Appeal. We handed over a total of 68 boxes and £110 in donations, including 16 Shoeboxes from Dromore Beavers and 10 from Rademon NSP Church.
Jean McIlroy said, "This was an excellent effort and I would like to thank all who contributed." Donna McDonald recently held to a Coffee Morning at her Ballymacormick Road home, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. She was delighted to announce that a total of £660 was raised. Donna is no stranger to fund raising and thinking of others. Donna is a church committee member, sings with the choir, and is a Bible Class leader. Each year we appeal for help in sending filled shoe boxes to people in different parts of th world that have barely enough to live on, via the Blythswood Shoe Box Appeal. Last year along with Rademon and Dromore Beavers we were able to send some 61 boxes and a donation of £140 to hlpe voer the cost of transport. Blythswood appreciate your generosity in helping his worthwhile cause. Leaflets will be left in the Session Room near the end of September and the boxes should be returned by: Sunday 18th Octber. |
